What happened
This lawsuit, Hall, et al. v. Roseland Community Hospital Association, claims that Roseland was negligent in protecting patient information after a data incident on or about June 2, 2024. The incident potentially exposed names, addresses, dates of birth, medical information, and insurance information, and for a limited number of people, driver's license or Social Security numbers. Roseland posted notice on its website on August 1, 2024 and later mailed letters. The case is pending in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois, Chancery Division.
Roseland denies all claims and any liability, and the Court has not decided who is right. The parties agreed to settle the case to avoid the costs, risks, and uncertainty of continued litigation.

Where the money is going
Roseland will pay $650,000 into a non-reversionary settlement fund. Medical records monitoring and Cash Payment A claims are paid first, then Cash Payment B is paid pro rata from what remains. Attorneys' fees, litigation expenses, service awards, and administration costs are paid from the fund. Any leftover funds go to a Court-approved nonprofit.
All amounts above are maximums and subject to Court approval at the January 6, 2027 Final Approval Hearing. The Court may award less. Cash Payment B is estimated at $50 and may be adjusted up or down depending on the number of approved claims.
Common questions
How much money will I receive?
Cash Payment A reimburses up to $5,000 per class member for documented, unreimbursed losses such as fraud or identity theft losses, professional fees, credit freeze costs, and credit monitoring costs. Amounts are not guaranteed.

Does staying in the class affect my right to sue later?
