What happened
The lawsuit concerns Tenet Healthcare's use of third-party tracking technologies, often called tracking pixels, on its websites, patient portals, the Healthelife app, and other web-based tools. Plaintiffs allege that these pixels shared information about patients' use of those platforms with third parties in violation of privacy laws.
Tenet Healthcare denies any wrongdoing, and the Court has not decided who is right. The parties agreed to settle to avoid the cost, risk, and delay of continued litigation. Class Counsel's requested attorneys' fees, litigation costs, and service awards are paid by Tenet Healthcare separately and do not reduce class member benefits.
How to file a claim
-
1. Confirm you are eligible
You qualify if Tenet Healthcare's records identify you as someone who created a patient portal account, submitted a web form, or checked in to urgent care or an emergency room through a Tenet website, patient portal, or the Healthelife app between January 1, 2017 and September 18, 2023. If you are unsure, call the Settlement Administrator at (833) 296-0729.
-

All class members can claim a one-time $16 cash payment with no proof or explanation required. All class members are also eligible to enroll in two years of CyEx Privacy Shield Pro, which includes dark web scanning, compromised password scanning, a VPN, a password manager, and fraud resolution support. Enrollment codes were sent to class members by postcard; if you no longer have yours, contact the Settlement Administrator.

Where the money is going
This is a claims-made settlement with no fixed common fund disclosed. Tenet Healthcare will pay a one-time $16 cash payment to each class member who submits a valid claim and will provide two years of CyEx Privacy Shield Pro to class members who enroll. Class Counsel's requested attorneys' fees and litigation costs and the class representatives' service awards are paid by Tenet Healthcare separately, so they do not reduce the $16 payment.
All amounts listed above are pending and subject to final court approval at the Final Approval Hearing. The Court may award less than the amounts requested. Benefits are paid only if the Court grants final approval and after any appeals are resolved.
Common questions
How much money will I receive?
Each class member who submits a valid claim can receive a one-time $16 cash payment, and all class members can enroll in two years of CyEx Privacy Shield Pro. Payments depend on the Court granting final approval.
Do I need to submit proof of purchase?
No proof or explanation is required to claim the $16 cash payment, but you must submit a valid Claim Form by March 15, 2027. Privacy Shield Pro enrollment uses the code mailed to you by postcard.
What if I didn’t receive a notice?
Class membership is based on Tenet Healthcare's records. If you believe you used a Tenet website or patient portal to create an account, submit a form, or check in between January 1, 2017 and September 18, 2023 but did not receive notice, contact Simpluris at (833) 296-0729 or info@TenetPixelSettlement.com before the March 15, 2027 deadline.
Does staying in the class affect my right to sue later?
If you stay in the settlement, you give up the right to sue Tenet Healthcare separately about the issues this settlement covers, whether or not you file a claim. The released claims are described in Section 3 of the Settlement Agreement. To keep those rights, you must exclude yourself by November 27, 2026.
When will payments be sent out?
Payments are distributed after the Court grants final approval at the January 14, 2027 Final Approval Hearing and after any appeals are resolved. Because the claim deadline is March 15, 2027, payments will not issue before claims close. An appeal can add a year or more to that timeline.
