What happened
Plaintiff Sargis Isayan alleges that Cedar Fair charged a "processing fee" of $6.99 to $9.99 on online ticket orders placed through knotts.com and cagreatamerica.com, and that the fee was not included in the advertised online ticket price but appeared only at checkout, several steps after the buyer had selected tickets. Mr. Isayan says he bought single-day tickets and a parking pass on knotts.com on February 21, 2024 and was charged a $9.99 processing fee that was not disclosed until checkout. The Second Amended Complaint asserts claims under California's Unfair Competition Law and False Advertising Law and seeks restitution of the fees.
Cedar Fair and Six Flags deny the allegations and deny any wrongdoing or liability, and the Court has not decided who is right. The parties agreed to settle to avoid the cost and uncertainty of further litigation. The Court granted preliminary approval on September 17, 2026. Under the settlement, each of the approximately 1,405,235 class members will receive an $8 benefit, either as cash for those who file a valid claim or as a Six Flags online credit for those who do nothing. Attorneys' fees and expenses (up to $1,962,329), a service award to Mr. Isayan (up to $10,000), and administration costs (up to $89,500) are paid separately and do not reduce class member benefits.
How to file a claim
-
1. Confirm you are eligible
You qualify if you were charged a processing fee on a non-season ticket purchase to Knott's Berry Farm or Knott's Soak City on knotts.com, or to California's Great America on cagreatamerica.com, between June 28, 2020 and July 1, 2024, using a California billing zip code. Notices were sent by email to class members identified in Defendants' sales records. If you are unsure, call 1-888-885-4303.
-
2. Choose cash or credit
Every participating class member receives an $8 benefit. If you do nothing, you will automatically receive a one-time $8 credit by email for a paid purchase on www.sixflags.com, usable at Six Flags parks in the 48 contiguous U.S. states, freely transferable, with no blackout dates, and expiring 36 months after it is issued. If you would rather have $8 in cash, you must submit a valid Claim Form. The notice describes the benefit as $8 per participating class member, not per ticket or per order.
-
3. File online or by mail for cash
To receive cash instead of a credit, submit your claim at the official claim form by December 22, 2026, or mail a signed paper Claim Form postmarked by that date to: Isayan v. Cedar Fair, L.P., c/o Settlement Administrator, 1650 Arch St. Suite 2210, Philadelphia, PA 19103. If you received notice through a Second Email Attempt, you have 60 days from that email. The Claim Form asks for your contact information, your Notice ID from your email notice, and a payment choice, and does not require proof of purchase. The notice, Claim Form, and court documents are posted at KnottsGreatAmericaSettlement.com.
-
4. Receive your payment
Claimants can choose a virtual prepaid card, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or a physical check. Cash payments and credits are delivered within 45 days after the settlement becomes final, which happens only if the Court grants final approval at the March 30, 2027 Final Approval Hearing and any appeals are resolved. Checks must be cashed within 180 days of issuance; an uncashed check is cancelled and replaced with an $8 credit.

Claims, exclusion requests, and objections are due by December 22, 2026 (or 60 days after a Second Email Attempt). Where the money is going
This is not a traditional common fund. Each participating class member receives a fixed $8 benefit, paid in cash to those who file a valid claim and as a Six Flags online credit to everyone else. The roughly $11,241,880 figure is the estimated total value of those cash and credit benefits across about 1,405,235 class members. Attorneys' fees and expenses, the service award, and administration costs are paid separately and are not deducted from class member benefits. Under the Settlement Agreement, money from voided, uncashed checks stays in the Cash Benefit Fund and may be used for administration costs or returned to Defendants, while the affected class member receives an $8 credit instead.
All amounts listed above are pending and subject to final court approval at the March 30, 2027 Final Approval Hearing. The Court may award less than the amounts requested. The $11,241,880 figure is an estimate of the combined value of cash and credit benefits, not a cash fund, and much of it will be distributed as credits rather than cash. Benefits are paid only if the Court grants final approval and after any appeals are resolved.
Common questions
How much money will I receive?
Each participating class member receives $8. If you submit a timely, valid Claim Form, you receive $8 in cash by electronic payment or check. If you do nothing, you receive an $8 credit for a purchase on www.sixflags.com that expires 36 months after it is issued. Fees, the service award, and administration costs are paid separately and do not reduce the $8 amount, but no payment is made unless the Court grants final approval.
Do I need to submit proof of purchase?
No proof of purchase or park attendance is required. The Claim Form asks for your name, address, email, phone number, your Notice ID from your email notice, and a payment method, and you sign it under penalty of perjury. The Administrator may ask for more documentation in limited situations, such as a name change or when a claimant cannot be matched to Defendants' sales records.
What if I didn’t receive a notice?
If you believe you were charged a processing fee on a non-season ticket purchase on knotts.com or cagreatamerica.com between June 28, 2020 and July 1, 2024 but did not receive a notice, contact the Settlement Administrator at 1-888-885-4303 or Info@KnottsGreatAmericaSettlement.com, or visit KnottsGreatAmericaSettlement.com. The Claim Form requires a Notice ID, so ask the Administrator for yours before the December 22, 2026 deadline.
Does staying in the class affect my right to sue later?
Yes. If you do not opt out, you give up your right to sue Cedar Fair, Six Flags, and the other Released Parties over claims arising from their representations, advertising, marketing, and sales during the Class Period that were alleged, or could reasonably have been alleged, in the complaint, whether or not you file a claim. To keep those rights, you must submit a signed written Request for Exclusion by December 22, 2026. Opting out means you will not receive the $8 benefit.
When will payments be sent out?
Cash payments and credits are delivered within 45 days after the settlement becomes final, which requires the Court to grant final approval at the March 30, 2027 hearing and any appeals to be resolved. An appeal can add a year or more to that timeline. Checks must be cashed within 180 days of issuance, or they will be cancelled and replaced with an $8 credit.
